Park Central - Central Plaza

Birmingham, England

Central Plaza marks a high-point in ambition for regeneration and urban living in this district of Birmingham. This pair of buildings is situated between the Moonlit and Sunset Parks at the very heart of the award-winning Park Central masterplan. The landscape and public realm design seamlessly link the two parks and create both a visual connection and pedestrian access for all.

The site is steeply sloping – falling by approximately 3 storeys from north to south. The buildings themselves are positioned to work with the existing topography. Layers of car parking, beneath landscaped terraces, are designed to deal efficiently and cost-effectively with this steep profile. Whilst at the same time disabled access and active frontages are maintained throughout – the buildings are truly an integral part of their parkland surroundings.

  • 132 apartments – comprising 1 bed, 2 bed and penthouses
  • Bespoke response to site levels employed to make the project viable
  • ‘Chameleon’ style cladding chosen to enhance the parkside setting – changes colour from a natural bronze shade to green
  • Building plan form maximises views of the parks:
    • Triple aspect penthouses with generous roof gardens overlooking the city centre
    • Majority of apartments are dual or triple aspect.
    • Full width terraces for apartments facing the park
