Refurbishment and extension of Grade II listed buildings for commercial use, requires a deep understanding of both historic building and institutional funding specifications. Even more so when the building is to be incorporated into a campus, with over twice the original volume of space.

The masterplan for the development was designed to allow phased construction. A combination of 80,000 sq ft of accommodation in the existing building and 100,000 sq ft of new build accommodation created the opportunity for a formal courtyard, sensitive to listed building issues and the surrounding environment.
