Beirut
Beirut, Lebanon
Beirut, once the Riviera of the Levant but ravaged by the effects of seventeen years of war, is being comprehensively re-built. Our master plan and building restoration briefs combined the re-creation of the intimate historic urban grain with high-density infrastructure and built form for a major historic quarter in the city centre.
A detailed analysis and design response for the historic district of Wadi Abou Jamil culminated in the preparation of 90 detailed restoration briefs for individual historic buildings of social and cultural significance. Design guidance for new development will ensure the survival of Beirut’s Levantine character whilst also meeting the needs of a modern city.
